Malta Sotheby’s International Realty Announces Sponsorship of the Malta Golf Association Shield

Malta Sotheby’s International Realty is pleased to announce that it will be the exclusive sponsor of the Malta Golf Association (MGA) Shield, one of the Association’s longest-standing and most anticipated annual competitions.

Founded in 2006, the MGA has played an important role in the development and promotion of golf across the Maltese Islands, representing the sport locally and internationally and supporting players, competitions and initiatives at different levels. The Association is affiliated with leading international golfing bodies, including The R&A, the International Golf Federation and the European Golf Association, while locally it is recognised by organisations including the Maltese Olympic Committee and SportMalta.

At the forefront of the Association is President William Beck, whose leadership continues to guide the MGA’s efforts to strengthen and promote golf across the Maltese Islands. Under his presidency, the Association remains focused on creating opportunities for players to compete and develop, while building greater engagement with the sport and strengthening its presence both locally and internationally.

As part of the preparations for the upcoming MGA Shield, Malta Sotheby’s International Realty’s Group Senior Manager - Marketing, Sharon Grima, and Sales Associate, Raj Daswani, met with MGA President William Beck and Director Doreen Balzan to discuss the event, the Association’s vision for this year’s edition, and the collaboration surrounding the sponsorship.

Also closely involved in the Association is Director Doreen Balzan, a longstanding member of Malta’s golfing community with a strong personal connection to the MGA Shield. An active golfer herself, Ms Balzan won the women’s category of the competition in 2022 and has continued to support the development and promotion of the sport in Malta.

With Malta’s golf season getting underway in September, Royal Malta Golf Club’s calendar brings together a series of competitions and activities throughout the months that follow. Among them, the Malta Golf Association Shield has become one of the Club’s favourite fixtures. Established soon after the MGA itself was founded, the Shield has been played annually for almost two decades and has grown into an eagerly anticipated event within Malta’s golfing community.

Held each November, with activity spanning three consecutive days, the competition brings together players and members of the local golfing community in a competitive yet social setting. The 2026 edition marks the 20th running of the MGA Shield, underscoring the tournament’s long-standing place within the RMGC’s and MGA’s calendar.
