Malta Sotheby's International Realty recently undertook a strategic three-day visit to New York and Connecticut, marking a significant step in the firm's continued commitment to expanding its international presence. The delegation was led by Roger A. Strickland Jr., Director and Joint Owner, alongside Malcolm Ferrante, Investment Migration Advisor. The primary objectives of the visit were to cultivate and reinforce relationships with key global partners, and to present the distinguished lifestyle and investment opportunities that the Maltese Islands have to offer to an international audience, further strengthened by the upcoming direct connection between Malta and New York through Delta Air Lines, launching flights in June.
Forging Connections in Manhattan
The delegation’s journey began at the prestigious Sotheby’s International Realty East Side Manhattan office. Positioned just moments from the iconic Central Park, this office serves as a cornerstone of the global network.
Mr. Strickland and Mr. Ferrante engaged in a fascinating dialogue with Craig J. George, Senior Global Real Estate Advisor & Licensed Salesperson. The meeting delved into the evolving synergy between luxury real estate and international investment migration, highlighting Malta’s unique appeal to North American investors seeking a secure and sophisticated European base.
During their time in Manhattan, the delegation also connected with leading industry professionals including Kevin B. Brown, Real Estate Advisor, and Stan Ponte, Senior Global Real Estate Advisor and Associate Broker, further strengthening ties within the network.
A notable highlight of the visit was a meeting with Nikki Field, Founder of The Field Team, who consistently ranks among the top-performing sales teams within the Sotheby’s International Realty network. This exchange provided valuable insights into the dynamics of the New York luxury real estate market at the highest level. Adding to the excitement, the group toured the newly listed 111 West 57th Street, Quadplex 80 - arguably the crown jewel of Manhattan addresses. Spanning four full floors with breathtaking 360-degree views of the city, this extraordinary residence is listed at $98,000,000, epitomising the height of architectural ambition and luxury living.
Artistic Excellence at Sotheby’s Auction House
On the second day, the focus shifted to the historic Sotheby’s Auction House on Madison Avenue. Hosted by Karina Binaco, Sotheby’s International Realty’s Relationship Manager, the team was given an exclusive preview of the Collection of Jean & Terry de Gunzburg.
A standout highlight of the tour was Claude Lalanne’s monumental Pomme d’Hiver. This extraordinary gilt bronze sculpture, standing over seven feet tall, represents a triumph of scale and natural beauty. The piece, capturing an enlarged apple with exquisite detail, is expected to fetch approximately $4 million at auction, underscoring the deep-rooted connection between the Sotheby’s brand and the world of high-value collectibles.
Building Bridges in Greenwich
The final day took the Malta Sotheby's team to Connecticut to visit the Sotheby’s International Realty – Greenwich Brokerage, an event organised by Michelle Pernino. In addition to the presentation, the team was introduced to a selection of local properties, offering valuable first-hand insight into the Greenwich luxury residential market.
Roger and Malcolm delivered a comprehensive presentation to 15 elite agents, providing vital insights into:

Strengthening Diplomatic and Community Ties
The visit also included a productive meeting at the Consulate General of Malta in New York with Denise Demicoli, Consul General. Discussions centred on the strong and growing relationship between Malta and the United States, including the vibrant Maltese community in New York, estimated at around 45,000 individuals.
The meeting highlighted the active role of the consulate in supporting Maltese nationals abroad while fostering bilateral connections. It also provided an opportunity for Malta Sotheby’s International Realty to leave curated copies of its property portfolio with the Consulate, ensuring that Maltese real estate opportunities are readily accessible within this important diplomatic and community hub, and further strengthening visibility among U.S.-based audiences with an interest in Malta.
"Our visit to New York and Greenwich was a powerful reminder of the strength of the Sotheby’s International Realty network," said Roger A. Strickland Jr. "Being able to present the unique opportunities Malta offers to our colleagues in the U.S. ensures that their clients receive the best possible guidance when looking toward the Mediterranean."
The trip marks another milestone in Malta Sotheby’s International Realty’s mission to provide unparalleled international exposure for its local listings while offering world-class advisory to global investors.
